Title: Fall New Sunday Draft Adult Hockey League Starting |
|
|
A lot of people have asked that we bring
back Sunday hockey. A lot of people have suggested that we try some type of
"draft" league. Well, here goes. Let's combine the ideas and have a Sunday Draft
League.
Here's the bullet points for the Sunday Draft League. Feel free to post your
comments. We want this to be a success.
1. Game days: All games, including playoffs, will be played on Sundays.
2. Game times: Sunday morning, Sunday early afternoon, Sunday late afternoon
(TBD)
3. Target start date – Fall 2007
4. Registration deadline – TBD
5. Team names – will be assigned by Rivertown Sports after the draft and prior
to the season starting.
6. Schedules– will be available prior to the registration deadline
7. Season Length – 8 or 10 games, TBD
8. Cost - $80 if we play an 8-game season, $100 if we play a 10-game season
9. Payment due date – All players must be paid in full be the registration
deadline. No exceptions will be made.
10. Officiating – two referees, one scorekeeper. Statistics will be maintained
for the draft league.
11. Roster size – minimum of eight skaters, maximum of ten skaters, plus one or
two goaltenders
12. Rules – same as all Rivertown Sports league games
13. Playoffs – will be held the Sunday after the regular season ends (TBD)
14. Playoff format – depends on the number of teams but at least half of the
teams will make the playoffs.
15. Playoff game format – same rules and period lengths as the regular season
except that overtime periods, if necessary, will be 16 minute periods
(sudden-death of course) and the teams will play at full strength.
16. Skill level – All skill levels will be represented. Due to the nature of the
draft process, each team should be extremely close in talent level. Above
average players will have the opportunity to mentor their less-skilled teammates
while below average players will learn how to improve their game from the better
players.
17. One week prior to the season starting, we will hold a two-hour scrimmage on
a Sunday. All registered players will be allowed to skate during the scrimmage.
Immediately following the scrimmage, a player draft will be held. Team captains
will be selected by Rivertown Sports from all goaltenders who have registered.
The captains (goaltenders) will select players for their team in draft order.
18. The draft order will be as follows:
1st. Round – Team A, Team B, Team C, Team D
2nd. Round – Team D, Team C, Team B, Team A
3rd. Round – Team A, Team B, Team C, Team D
4th. Round – Team D, Team C, Team B, Team A
5th. Round – Team A, Team B, Team C, Team D
6th. Round – Team D, Team C, Team B, Team A
7th. Round – Team A, Team B, Team C, Team D
8th. Round – Team D, Team C, Team B, Team A
9th. Round – Team A, Team B, Team C, Team D
10th. Round – Team D, Team C, Team B, Team A
19. Trades will be allowed. Trade Request forms will be available at the rink
office. The following rules will be in effect for all trades:
- Only two-way trades are allowed. Trades involving more than two teams are not
allowed.
- Captains may not be traded.
- Trades must be “even”, i.e. one player for one player, two players for two
players, etc.
- Trades may not involve more than three players from a team.
- Trades may not involve “players to be named later”, financial compensation, or
any other criteria that is not straight up player for player consideration.
- The trade deadline will be the drop of the puck for the fifth or sixth game
(depending on whether we have an 8-game or 10-game schedule).
- All players involved in a trade must have participated in at least half of
their team’s games at the time of the trade.
- Only captains may initiate a trade.
- Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be considered “no trade” days to allow rink
management sufficient time to consider/approve each trade. Trade requests must
be submitted to rink management no later than the end of business on Thursday of
each week to get trade approval for the following Sunday.
- Prior to submitting the trade to rink management for approval, each captain is
responsible for signing the trade request form and getting each of their players
involved in the trade to sign the trade request form.
- No player may be traded without their approval. Any player potentially
involved in a trade may veto the trade by simply refusing to sign the trade
request form.
